Here’s time for yet another helping of  Hollywood News to keep you abreast of the latest in show-biz. In entertainment news, several A-list actors and directors  have been lining up a bevy of upcoming projects. Enough, suffice it to say, to keep them busy and us fans in anticipation.

Hollywood News Update: Catherina Zeta Jones Coming Back with a Boom

After a long absence from the celluloid, it looks like Catherine Zeta Jones intends to make up for that by the sheer weight of numbers. Piggybacking on the the word of her comeback is the news that she already has four projects lined up, and possibly more in the pipeline. Three of these are already in the post-production stage: Adam Shankman’s Rock of Ages oppsite Tom Cruise, romantic comedy Playing the Field with Gerard Butler and Stephen Frear’s Lay the Favorite co-starring Bruce Willis.

Now, she’s in talks to star in the Allen Hughes crime thriller Broken City that already includes Mark Wahlberg and Russel Crowe in the cast. Sketchy details about the plot-line reveal that the film follows an ex-cop (Wahlberg) in a good guy on the run story in the Chinatown mould.

Steven Soderbergh’s Twin Labors of Love Shaping Up

Director Steven Soderbergh’s HBO project, Behind the Candelabra, based on the life of legendary pianist Liberace and his  relationship with lover Scott Torson. Michael Douglas and Matt Damon have been roped in for the roles of Liberace and Torson, respectively.

In the meanwhile, another ambitious project of Soderbergh’s, the film version of the 60s espionage based TV show The Man from U.N.C.L.E., has recovered from the setback of losing its leading man. Soderbergh had intended for this movie to be the platform to reunite him with George Clooney; the actor, however, had to drop out of the project just prior to commencement of shooting. The reason for this, as has been reported in various film rags, is the reemergence of the back injury that Clooney had suffered on the sets of Syriana. Hollywood news has it that The Hangover actor Bradley Cooper is now being considered for the lead role of Napoleon Solo, past candidates for which include Johnny Depp and Matt Damon among others.

It is noteworthy that along with Magic Mike, these two films are the list three Soderbergh would be involved in. The man himself has already announced his intentions of retiring from film direction to pursue his interest in painting.

Hollywood News: Matt Damon’s Directorial Debut

Matt Damon, who’s often in Hollywood news for his love of poker as much as for his acting prowess, is all set to graduate to a stint behind the megaphone with the crime drama Father Daughter Time: A Tale of Armed Robbery and Eskimo Kisses. This newly announced Warner Bros. production is scheduled for a 2013 release. Damon has also co-written another unnamed Warner Bros. project with John Krasinski and Dave Eggers; Hollywood News has it that Damon is supposed to direct this drama film as well. After engaging us with diverse roles which included the quasi-Bond character Jason Bourne, it looks like the talented Mr. Ripley is all set to break out another facet of his talent.

Is Jennifer single Again??? This the most common question that can be heard after Jennifer herself has declared that she is getting separate from Marc, her third husband, after seven years of their marriage.

Lopez, 41, and Anthony, 42, were married secretly on June 5, 2004 at her home in Beverly Hills, California and have two children together, twins Max and Emme.
After her first marriage to Ojani Noa in 1997, and again in 2001 to her backup dancer Cris Judd, this will be Jennifer’s THIRD divorce whereas for Marc’s it will be his second divorce.

News of Lopez and Anthony’s split was announced late Friday, when the couple issued a joint statement.
The couple just released a statement, claiming, “We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters.”

So what next for the couple???
The couple will be working jointly in another program, South American talent competition Q’Viva (“The Chosen”). And, both Lopez and Anthony will both be on board when the show begins taping in the fall.

A list of Hollywood celebrities has “killed” in an attempt to raise money for charity. These artists have signed all the social media networking platforms like Twitter and Facebook, to raise a target amount of $ 1 million (S $ 1.3 million) to charity Keep a Child Alive.

This love is an initiative of the R&B singer Alicia Keys and a campaign called “Digital Life sacrifice” has bare celebrity photos.

Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake and Usher are just one of the celebrities who participated in this campaign, December 1, which is also World AIDS Day.

They just log on social networking platforms, when the U.S. $ 1,000,000 has been reached.

Jennifer Lynn Lopez was born on July 24, 1969 in Castle Hill which lies in the neighborhood of Bronx, New York. She has a nickname “La Guitarra” meaning a guitar shaped body. She was raised a Roman Catholic and was taught in Catholic schools. Apart form her contribution to the American entertainment industry; her advocacy for human rights and vaccination and her work for the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles contribute in her popularity as one of the influential celebrities in America.

Lopez entered the musical theatre as a child. My Little Girl was actually her film debut at the age of 16; but it proved a regular washout. Then followed a few movies like Mi Familia, Blood and Wine, and Jack with Jennifer getting smaller roles. 1997 brought her a lead role in Selena, where she played a slain tejano singer. Then Lopez went on attaining the dizzy heights of eminence.

“Out of Sight” made pots of money in 1998 in which Lopez co-starred opposite George Clooney. No one could stop her now. Lopez became one of the highly sought after celebrities by paparazzi. By becoming the highest paid Hollywood actress having a Latin American origin, Jennifer reached another milestone.  She could be seen in all the newspapers and magazines among the hot celebrity pictures.

Lopez, essentially a singer, went back to her musical roots and made her debut as a pop singer in an album “On the 6″ that sold like hot cakes. Amongst many more from the album “If You Had My Love” literally mesmerized the audience. Lopez became more popular with her diminutive J. Lo since 2001. They seem to have spent the majority of their relationship denying that they’ve split but now the rumours have finally turned true and Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have broken up.

Liam’s rep has confirmed today that the pair are no more, but nothing has been said from either Miley or Liam.

The two met a year ago while filming The Last Song and for a short while Miley seemed to be head over heels and we thought that they could be in it for the long run.

In an interview she gushed: “He has become my best friend in the whole wide world. I love him. He really respects me for who I am because coming from Australia, he really didn’t know me as the celebrity I am here. I got to tell him about myself on my own terms and my own way. He had no preconceived notion of who I was supposed to be.”

Soon however, Miley was mouthing off and saying things that were making us cringe on behalf of poor Liam. She took swipes at his dress sense, said she thought Zac Efron was better looking and even dedicated a song to Nick Jonas. Ouch.   

But despite ongoing rumours that Liam was arguing with her family and videos of Miley giving an older guy a lap dance surfaced the two had always pledged a solid allegiance, with Miley taken to her blog to shut up the whispers.

Now though they’re over, and we can’t say we’re surprised. Not because of all of Miley’s embarrassing comments but more for the fact that they seem like two completely different people.

Paris Hilton, whose career has been eclipsed in recent years by her legal troubles, is in the mid of a legal spat again, this time she is being sued for breach of contract by a hair extension company.

HairTech International, a global beauty company specializing in new hair technologies, haircare and personal care products, said it signed a deal with the American socialite back in 2007, requiring her to promote a line of their hair extensions.

The company claims they gave the 29-year-old heiress to the Hilton hotel fortune $3.5 million to become the face of their DreamCatchers range of clip-in locks.

HairTech is now suing Hilton for breach of contract, accusing her of wearing a rival company’s product.The company is suing the socialite for a hefty $35 million in damages, for fraud and deceit, unjust enrichment and breach of contract, among other things.

The company also alleges Hilton lost them $6.6 million in costs, revenue and brand-building by failing to appear at a launch party for the product in June 2007 because she was in slammer for DUI.

Infringes contract by wearing rival company’s hair
In their lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the hair extension maker alleges Hilton violated the multi-million contract by appearing “in magazines and on television not wearing (their) hair extensions and was in fact wearing competitors’ hair extension products.

The fraud and breach-of-contract suit accuses Hilton of damaging the brand following her 2007 stint in jail for driving while on probation for a drink-driving charge.

The company also alleges Hilton lost them $6.6 million in costs, revenue and brand-building by failing to appear at a launch party for the product in June 2007 because she was in slammer for DUI.

The lawsuit, which also names her dad, Rick Hilton, as well as Paris Hilton Enterprises, as a defendant, states, “Paris Hilton is an individual celebrity who committed fraud and deceit as well as breaching all agreements by failing to abide by the law, failing to do appearances, failing to wear the Plaintiff’s hair extensions or otherwise fulfill her end of the agreements despite being paid in excess of approximately $3,500,000 in licensing and endorsement fees.”

Hilton, the daughter of real estate magnate Rick Hilton and great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, is best known for starring in a fish-out-of-water reality show called ‘The Simple Life’ with a fellow heiress Nicole Richie, daughter of singer Lionel Richie.

The life of the damsel has been in media spotlight ever since she entered the entertainment industry and subjected to criticism for her hard-partying lifestyle by almost everyone.

In November 2003, Hilton came in the headlines when a home video of her cavorting with her then-boyfriend Rick Solomon was published online.

Labeled as the ‘Party Girl,’ Hilton has been involved in a number of legal cases. A Los Angeles party planner had accused her of bombarding him with angry phone calls, shoving him and threatening his life.

In June 2006, Hilton had a fender-bender accident when her Range Rover backed into a car in a parking garage after a shopping trip. Recently, she was questioned by police in South Africa after a member of her entourage was caught smoking pot at a soccer game.

Also, Hilton was stopped at an airport on the French island of Corsica last month when cops allegedly found cannabis in her handbag. However, the high profile celebrity blonde later rubbished drug possession allegations and insisted she had not been arrested on either occasion.

On Sunday, Simpson took to her Twitter account to share her latest health regime with her fans.

Shocked my system with a vegan diet, special Pu-erh tea from China, and cupping since Friday!” Simpson wrote, referring to the practice of placing cups on your body. “Who am I right now? This might be too clean!”

The reality star also did some deep thinking on Sunday — possibly experiencing a whole new world.

Has anyone ever tried cupping? When u know you are doing something good for ur body the meditation creates intense visions. Love it!,” she continued in another Tweet, explaining, “Master Wang is the Healer working with me this weekend.”

“The Price Of Beauty” star was quick to explain that her weekend routine wasn’t about slimming down.

For a man, it must be hard not to judge “True Blood’s” newest hunk, Joe Manganiello.

Towering 6’5” into the skies, he has the body of a Greek god, his torso a symmetrically perfect series of heavenly-blessed abs and pecs. He’s the latest major casting choice in season three of HBO’s “True Blood,” making his debut in the franchise Sunday as Alcide Herveaux, a beloved character from Charlaine Harris’ “Sookie Stackhouse” novels, but had he been a little more average and a little less inspired, Manganiello would today most likely be nearing the end of a career in professional athletics.

“My last high school football game, I ended up tearing (a ligament in my knee) against Joe Montana’s old high school,” he told Access from the “True Blood” set. “I could’ve continued on, but there were a couple of different factors.”

The “different factors” were actually two roads for the then sophomore: One, he could opt to join some of his fellow Pittsburgh teen pals in using steroids and carry on on the gridiron. Angelina Jolie has braved a journey on rutted jungle roads to a village on Ecuador’s border with Colombia to highlight the abuses suffered by women and children refugees.

The actress and U.N. human rights goodwill ambassador returned for the first time in eight years to a turbulent region where thousands of Colombian refugees live.

She ended her two-day visit Friday wotj a meeting in Shushufindi with President Rafael Correa and other senior government officials.

On Thursday, Jolie was in the isolated border hamlet of Barranca Bermeja. The U.N. says one of the women she met had lost two children in Colombia’s conflict.

More than 50,000 Colombian refugees are registered in Ecuador though unofficial estimates put the number at more than 170,000.

With the one-year anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death just days away, the King of Pop’s father, Joe, has opened up about his son’s death and the status of Michael’s children.

“I wanted [Katherine] to step in and go in and … keep him cheered up,” Joe said of his wife and Michael’s mother, Katherine Jackson, in a video posted on News of the World’s website on Sunday. “She didn’t want to do that because she was afraid she was invading his privacy.”

He added that the pair fought over the subject — and that things might have been different had she gone to Michael as the pop star prepared for his planned “This Is It” concerts at London’s O2 Arena, which were set to kick off last summer.

“We argued about that several times. ‘Katherine, if you don’t go see him, he won’t be with us too long,’” Joe can be heard saying in the News of the World video. “I thought he was looking kind of funny and frail a little bit. I told her, ‘This would have not have happened if you had been with him a while because he would have been more relaxed. By you being with him, things would’ve went much better than what they did. We gone lost our son now.’”

On Monday, however, Katherine’s attorney issued a statement to Access Hollywood, over her husband’s remarks.

“Joe Jackson’s statements and conduct toward Mrs. Jackson are outrageous,” Katherine’s attorney, Adam Streisand said. “The world knows Mrs. Jackson has always been a loving and caring mother and grandmother, and she had a very special relationship with Michael. The world also knows who Joe Jackson is and he seems bent on never letting us forget.”

Joe appeared to be in better spirits when he spoke about Michael’s children — Paris, Prince Michael and Blanket, revealing that they had spent time with Paris and Prince Michael’s birth mother, Debbie Rowe.

Only in Hollywood: Lindsay Lohan’s lawyer is asking a judge to delay her trial because people hate her. Seriously, he claims she can’t get a fair shake with a jury.

Ed McPherson represents Lindsay in the civil lawsuit in which people allege that she terrorized them during a wild, drunken Pacific Coast Highway joyride in 2007.

This is the same incident for which Lindsay received a DUI, and which she is now on probation (and free on bail, and wearing a SCRAM device) as a result of.

Her attorney says the recent ankle monitor debacle is exactly why the civil lawsuit must be postponed – ’cause everyone wants her to crash and burn so bad!

According to McPherson, “Every facet of the criminal proceeding and every facet of Ms. Lohan’s life … have been reported on TMZ and other media outlets.”

Are THG, TMZ and our ilk biasing jurors against Linds?

Saying this occurs “literally on a daily (and sometimes hourly) basis, there are current widespread public feelings of intense negativity against Ms. Lohan.”

Referencing comments left on celebrity gossip sites, some of which are quite foul, McPherson says it’s highly likely the jury pool will be tainted against her.

Since jury trials are not held anonymously and on message boards, he may be reaching a little bit there. But he does make another, more valid argument.

Since Lindsay could end up in jail for six months if the judge in her criminal case rules she violated her probation, the civil suit should be delayed, he says.

It won’t be. The judge in the civil case already denied Lindsay’s motion to postpone, though the issue may be revisited at her probation hearing on July 6.

Gary Coleman’s estranged parents abandoned their effort to bury him in his native Illinois Friday after a Utah attorney revealed the actor named an executor in a 1999 will.

“Of course it’s disappointing. We’d be inhuman if it wasn’t, but we’re not up for a fight,” Coleman’s mother, Sue Coleman, said in an interview with The Associated Press. “We just want him finally put away to rest.”

Gary Coleman died May 28 in Utah from a brain hemorrhage at age 42.

Salt Lake City Attorney Kent Alderman said he has a will Coleman wrote that he will take to a Utah County court sometime next week. The will was written before Coleman moved to Utah and met his future wife during filming for the 2006 comedy “Church Ball.” Alderman wouldn’t reveal details of the will, including the name of the executor, but said Coleman will not be buried this weekend.

“We will submit that for probate next week and find out if this is the last will. We believe it is. Nobody’s come up with a more recent one,” Alderman said.

Frederick Jackman, an attorney for Gary Coleman’s parents, said the person named in the will is Dion Mial, a friend and former manager of the former child TV star. A message left at a listing for Mial in Las Vegas was not immediately returned Friday.

Sue Coleman and husband Willie Coleman had been seeking to take custody of their son’s body and return it to his boyhood home in Illinois once it was discovered this week that he had divorced wife Shannon Price in 2008. It was Price — who was named in an advanced health care directive — who ordered that Gary Coleman be taken off of life support.

His parents have said they learned about his hospitalization and death from media reports and they had wanted to reconcile with their son before his death.

“We know that we loved him. We know deep in his heart he loves us,” Sue Coleman said Friday. “That’s the way it is.”

She said she wasn’t aware of any funeral details outlined in the will and that she had not spoken with Mial in probably 20 years.
