Useful Tips for Casino Visitors

The in-built house benefit that casinos wield over all the games they offer is persistent, a virtual assurance to wear down every gambler’s bankroll over the extended haul.

But did you know the velocity at which people play the games has a direct force on how hard the house perimeter will hit them?

Because you can play a slot machine more rapidly than any table game, it is significant to play at a slower pace. Spinning the reels every few seconds during any given playing session translates into a major asset, every dollar of which gets hammered by the house edge.

By slowing down the speed at which you play slots you give yourself a fighting chance of staying in the game longer.

Video poker has a legion of fans who are attracted to the game because every hand you are dealt and every card you draw is as random as a computer program will allow.

This makes the game as close as humanly possible to playing with your own 52-card deck at the kitchen table. A virtual deck of cards is constantly being shuffled between plays in the game’s computer program.

When you make a bet and hit the deal button, the shuffling stops and five cards are dealt off the top popping up left to right on the screen. The shuffling of the remaining virtual cards continues until you make a decision on what to hold.

When you hit draw, the number of cards you need to fill your hand pop up in the vacated spaces.

Of all the wagers you can make in a casino there is one in which the odds aren’t stacked against you. That wager is called “free odds” and it’s found at the craps tables. The odds are free because the house takes no edge on them.

Payoffs are made at true mathematical odds. Here’s what you should know. Once you make a line bet and a point is established, you have the option of making an additional bet that the point will be made.

Playing free odds is essential to taking advantage of the opportunities at the dice table and in doing so you’re also trimming even further the low house edge that the casino takes on line bets. It’s really the best bet you can make on any casino game and makes learning how to play craps well worth the effort.

Building up playing credits on slot and video poker machines carries seeds of destruction for recreational gaming enthusiasts. When you are playing with electronically metered credits instead of cold, hard cash, it is easy for your money to lose its value.

Always be aware accurately how much money you have on the machine in credits no matter what number you are playing. With the increase in the number of low-denomination slot games, it’s easy to forget that pennies add up to dollars. Don’t make the mistake of extravagant away any good luck by neglecting

Moleskine a Notebook brand is bringing its globe-trotting exhibition “Detour” to Shanghai this week to reward its entourage of local supporters. This exhibition will be the biggest “Detour” exhibition ever for Moleskine Starting from October 20 at Bund 18.

The Italian brand has invited a hot list of local celebrities including writer-cum-racer Han Han, director Jia Zhangke, fashion designer Jenny Ji and photographer Wang Xiaohui to work on this project. Most of them will be at the event’s opening party on Wednesday.

Audley Harrison has deal with Full Tilt Poker

Audley Harrison has signed a finance deal with Full Tilt Poker to the front of his World Heavyweight title fight with David Haye in November.

Audley Harrison will symbolize the fastest growing online poker site at a number of high profile live tournaments. While Full Tilt Poker branding will be prominent on the 38 year-old when he steps into the ring against David Haye at the M.E.N Arena on November 13, in one of the biggest all-British fights the country has ever seen.

The Londoner had a chance meeting with Matchroom Sport managing director Eddie Hearn at the World Series of Poker in 2009. Both entered the main event and the business man drew a seat next to the Olympic gold medallist and after discussions, Harrison agreed to enter Matchroom Sport’s Prizefighter Heavyweights III tournament in October that year.

The fighter went on to win the event at London’s ExCeL before claiming the European title with a dramatic final round knockout of Michael Sprott, a title he vacated to path the way to his forthcoming Sky Box Office clash with Haye. Harrison is currently training at Big Bear in California ahead of the fight and Sky Sports News will be reporting on his training live with the fighter from 3.10pm (UK time) and throughout the rest of the day.

Harrison takes his poker very seriously and has the results to back it up with – a pair of WSOP cashes sit next to a runner’s-up finish at the Bellagio Cup and a third place ending at the Venetian Deep Stack in June this year.

“I fell in love with poker while living in Las Vegas and have spent time learning how to play the game from the professionals who reside there,” said Harrison. “I have had some great results already in the game and Eddie and I have been looking at joining the right team for a while now. We have found the perfect partner in Full Tilt Poker and I look forward to representing them both in the ring and on the tables. Next time I’m in action on the felt, I plan to have the WBA Heavyweight Championship belt round my waist.”

“I have heard it a hundred times from sportsmen and celebrities who think they can play the game but very few can, Audley is certainly in that small number,” said Hearn, Harrison’s promoter. “I watched him come close to winning the deep stack event at the Venetian in July and I think he has a big tournament result in his locker. The partnership with Full Tilt poker is an exciting one and I know Audley will be a great ambassador for the brand.”

Collecting his first bracelet and £830,401 James Bord has won the 2010 WSOPE Main Event. The Brit defeated Fabrizio Baldassari heads-up.

The final table standings were as follows:
1. James Bord, £830,401
2. Fabrizio Baldassari, £513,049
3. Ronald Lee, £376,829
4. Nicolas Levi, £208,119

6. Daniel Steinberg, £156,530
7. Dan Fleyshman, £118,643
8. Brian Powell, £90,617
9. Marc Inizan, £69,754

As Compared to previous years, the final table was light on star power with Triple Crown winner Roland de Wolfe and Victory Poker CEO Dan Fleyshman arguably the most well-known players to make it to the final.

With an increased field of 346 players this year, it looked for a long time that the final table could be a dream for rail birds however. Both Phil Ivey and Viktor Blom – the man allegedly aka ‘Isildur1′ online – spent much of the tournament in the top ten in chips. Unfortunately, they couldn’t quite make it to the final day however, falling in 19th and 16th place respectively.

With James Bord’s win, another very successful WSOPE from the Casino at the Empire in Leicester Square comes to an end. But doesn’t despair for EPT London has already begun.

Returns Good for Kansas Casino – In First Eight Months

DODGE CITY, Kan. | After eight months, the first state-owned casino in Kansas appears to be playing a winning hand.

Ed Van Petten, executive director of the Kansas Lottery, said lottery officials are somewhat amazed by the popularity of the Boot Hill Casino & Resort in Dodge City.

As of July, total revenue at the casino has been just over $24 million. Van Petten said that puts the casino on track to meet its first-year goal of $39.7 million.

The revenue has meant Dodge City and Ford County each have received a $362,801 distribution.

The Hutchinson News reported that Jane Longmeyer, spokeswoman for Dodge City, said the money in the city will be used for infrastructure improvements.

Jon Gosselin to Write a Parenting Book

While Kate Gosselin works steadily to support her family, Jon Gosselin has remained jobless since the couple got divorced and Jon & Kate Plus 8 went off the air. Sure, he’s done the random night of bartending or selling of his autograph, but professional opportunist doesn’t quite make the cut for child support payments. We’ve heard rumors that he’s been trying to get another reality gig, but his contract with TLC has made this difficult.

His new idea for some cash: Penning a book on parenting.

Kate has also written a series of best selling books, so this is not a completely original idea. He thought of it with the help of his new life coach Sylvia Lafair who will be co-authoring the tomb. She’ll likely get a cut, in addition to her pay for taking Jon on “soul searching missions into the mountains of Pennsylvania at $10,000 a trip.”

A Slice of Life: Jon Gosselin’s Story will be a memoir, most likely of the tragicomic variety, detailing his “journey” from nobody, to reality TV character, to tabloid punching bag. ”

Jon is still deciding what exactly the book will be about, but knows he wants to focus on his parenting skills,” a friend of his tells PopEater. “There is no deal yet or timeline, but the [interest] in Jon from publishers is huge right now, so he’s going to strike while the iron is hot.”

Jon gets a lot of slack for being a bad parent, mostly for introducing his kids to his long line of young girlfriends, being caught on video smoking pot, and waging then dropping custody battles. But, he has been through a lot. His qualifications may not be stellar, but he has dealt with his divorce and parenting eight children. Maybe he can help some people? Paging Michael Lohan.

Jon will be leaving out some of his poorer choices. “What the book won’t be focusing on is how quickly he moved on, after Kate, with two much younger girlfriends, his partying nights in Las Vegas or his new huge tattoo that covers his entire back,” continues the friend, though making mistakes and learning from them seem it would be a big part of Jon’s becoming a better parent.

However, with Dr. Lafair’s help it might actually be good (or at least readable). She’s published an award-winning business book called ‘Don’t Bring It to Work.’

At least it’s not a picture book of Jon’s favorite Ed Hardy tees. I’ll probably read it. Will you?

Baccarat Strategy

A reliable Baccarat strategy is generally considered a falsehood among gamblers. Although you may often hear people asserting that they have devised the ‘perfect’ strategy, Baccarat is essentially a game of chance and there is relatively little the player can do strategically to improve the odds.

However, that does not mean that there is no point thinking about the game. There are several central things to remember when playing baccarat that will help you to make correct decisions and play more intelligently and, therefore, increase your chances of success.

Consider the following questions and answers if you want to become a better player:

Is Pattern Spotting an Effective Baccarat Strategy or Superstitious Hogwash?

Use the scoreboard! You will undoubtedly see other players make use of the pencil and chart provided by most casinos, on which they keep track of previous hands and try to determine if there is a pattern. Usually, if they believe there is a pattern, they will change their betting in order to take advantage of a streak. This is erroneous and illogical. The casino encourages this because they know it has no bearing on the game. In Baccarat, as in most games, no hand can have influence on a following hand. Although you will see countless other players marking their score card, you should pay no heed to this. After all, would the casinos really provide everyone with something that would help the customers win more money?! No way!!

Which Game Types Favor Players?

Some tables use different numbers of decks. You can maximize returns by playing Baccarat with single decks which offer the best mathematical return (about 1% house edge) for the banker bet, representing the best return possible for any bets in any form of Baccarat.

The Tie Bet Has Great Payout Odds. When is the Best Time To Wager on it?

Never! Avoid it like the plague. No matter what you hear, the Tie is NOT a great option. Although the payout is considerably more than the player and banker bets, and therefore more enticing, it is not a good idea. The house edge on tie bets is at least 5%. Smart gamblers do not bet on the tie.

Considering the Odds, Should you always Bet on the Banker?

Technically yes – practically, perhaps not. Looking at the numbers, the odds are always better if you bet on the banker. This Baccarat strategy would be unquestionably dull, and so you wouldn’t want to be playing for very long. Remember, the house does have an edge, even though it is relatively small for Baccarat. This means that in the long run the house will win, undeniably. To minimize the house edge, it is advisable to bet on the banker. However, most people play Baccarat for its fun and whimsical nature.

Important note: Practice first before wagering! Almost all online casinos offer the game in both the practice mode and the betting mode. It is always a good idea to practice your chosen game in free play mode as it gives you the chance to check out their software before you start playing for money.
